Robert Parkins Sent To Prison

After knifing Alex Fitzpatrick, 30, 17 times in the neck and chest, Rob Parkins, 33, left him to die in a pool of blood. The murderer escaped St Neots, Cambridgeshire , and took refuge at his aunt’s house in north London, nearly 80 miles away.

Alex dropped his nine-year-old son off at Kelly’s house on October 13, 2019, after bringing him swimming.

When he returned to the house, he discovered that the lad had forgotten his spectacles.

However, a fight erupted between Alex and Parkins, who repeatedly attacked the father with a knife in a “brutal, violent, and persistent attack.”

Parkins escaped after Alex was pronounced dead at the scene, and police initiated a manhunt for him.

Parkins was charged with murder, but claimed he was “unaware” that he was holding a knife throughout his fight with Alex.

However, jurors were able to see through his lies, and he was found guilty after a trial that lasted little over two and a half hours.

Parkins was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 19 years in prison for inflicting “horrendous and irreversible injuries” on Alex.

Despite his conviction, Janet’s anguish at losing her son to prison remains palpable.

She declares: “It’s been extremely difficult for us, and our lives will never be the same without him.

“Robert is everywhere – I see him when I look out into the lawn…

I walk around the corner to the business, and he comes around the corner.

“He’s simply there all the time. He wasn’t before, and now he isn’t.”

When Robert Pakins arrested?

In October 2019, the Channel 4 show 24 Hours in Police Custody will explore his spectacular arrest.

The documentary looks into Alex’s killing and how authorities tracked Parkins down to his aunt’s house in north London, which is about 80 miles distant.

Janet Parkins’ mother tells the show that a woman approached her and Parkins’ father a week after the death and asked if they lived near the “murderer.”
