2019 Westminster Dog Show Winners: A 7-year-old tricolour male Wire Fox Terrier named “King” (GCH Kingarthur Van Foliny Home) won Best in Show at the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show with statuesque flair and spot-on appeal.
King, who was handled by terrier pro Gabriel Rangel of Rialto, California, who is now a three-time champion of the famous dog show, won against stiff competition under legendary terrier judge Peter Green.
“We are thrilled to be a part of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. He is an exceptional Wire Fox Terrier “Rangel, who described the terrier as his dearest buddy, was visibly moved.

“Winning under the most well-known terrier man in the world adds to the excitement.”
King, the country’s most successful Terrier in 2019, was in excellent shape.
It was his second appearance at Madison Square Garden, having previously won the breed shortly after beginning his campaign with Rangel in 2018.
Green, a four-time Westminster Best in Show handler, stated, “The Wire Fox Terrier is a breed I know pretty well, and he’s as good as it comes.”
He was in fantastic condition thanks to the handler.
Purina Pro Plan swept the competition, as the food was fed to all seven Group winners.
Taffe McFadden of Acampo, California, won Reserve Best in Show with a Havanese named “Bono” (GCH Oeste’s In The Name Of Love).
The exhibition featured about 2,800 dogs from 203 breeds and types from all 50 states as well as several international locations.
Victor Malzoni Jr. of Malibu, California, owns King, a dog bred by Rony and Dieny de Munter-Uiterwijk of Dendermonde, Belgium, who saw the dog’s potential and brought him to the United States.
King is the breed’s 15th Best in Show winner at Westminster, more than any other breed.
Rangel began working with King in late 2017 and spent the entire year of 2018 campaigning for him.
They won 35 Best in Show awards and a slew of Group Firsts. King also took Best in Show at the National Terrier Show and the European Winner Show.
As well as Group Firsts at Crufts and the World Dog Shows in Helsinki and Milan. He is the only Wire Fox Terrier in history to win the English Championship Show of the Wire Fox Terrier Association three times.
“Sky” (GCH Afterall Painting The Sky), a Wire Fox Terrier co-owned by Malzoni, and “Sadie” (CH Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot), a Scottish Terrier, are two of Rangel’s former Westminster winners.
Malzoni, who hopes to retire King and move to California with him, said, “Because I am the sole owner of King, this is a really important win for me. When I first met him, I recognised he was a fantastic dog with a lot of potential.”
