Carty kidnapped her with the help of three men to steal her newborn son. Raymundo Cabrera, Rodriguez’s husband, who was in bed with his wife and baby when they were stolen, testified that he was beaten and tied up by the intruders.

Rodriguez’s daughter, Carty, arrived at Rodriguez’s Houston home with scrubs and scissors, intending to cut the baby out of Rodriguez, even though the infant had already been delivered four days earlier.
The deceased was discovered in the boot of Carty’s car and was later determined to have died of suffocation;
however, her son was found alive and unharmed in another vehicle.
In punishment for her activities as a drug informant, she claims she was implicated by her co-defendants, who were drug dealers. She maintains her innocence, claiming that she was not involved in the crime.
