He is arguably most known for his role in the “home video” that catapulted Kim Kardashian to celebrity status. He also performed as a singer and hosted television shows.

William Norwood, Jr. was born on January 17, 1981, in New York City. Ray J was born in McComb, Mississippi, but his parents, Willie Norwood and Sonja Bates-Norwood, reared him in California. Ray J is the cousin of rap musician Snoop Dogg and the younger brother of multi-platinum singer Brandy.

While there was rumours that they were dating, Ray J has stated that they were only friends and that they never dated.

He was in San Diego when she died on February 11, 2012, and raced to the Beverly Hilton where she had died.

He was apparently enraged after hearing one of the officers on the scene make a disparaging remark about Houston.

Ray Jay was apprehended while attempting to force his way inside the hotel. Ray J’s sister Brandy characterised him as devastated and depressed at the time of Houston’s death.

Ray was discovered in his hotel room on May 21, 2012, unable to get out of bed. By ambulance, he was brought to the hospital.

He had an altercation the day before at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards when Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law (Pat Houston) called security on him after seeing him seated near to Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.

In August 2016, Ray married fashion designer Princess Love in Los Angeles. Their boy was born in January 2020, and their first daughter was born in May 2018.
