  1. Ever heard of The Burlington Files? As black is black, if you are into all things “gray” and clandestine, if you like Mark Greaney and of course Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans or the Russo Mob, you should love reading Beyond Enkription. It’s the first stand alone fact based spy thriller in The Burlington Files series. It’s currently our favourite novel by a long chalk. It’s an elusive relatively unknown book based on the real life of its author and true life secret agent Bill Fairclough, aka Edward Burlington.

Beyond Enkription (intentionally misspelt) is set in London and Newcastle in the seventies when Edward Burlington unwittingly started working for MI6 and infiltrated a global organised crime syndicate. He left the UK after some frenetic attempts on his life and began working for the CIA in Nassau and Port au Prince.

He’s been likened to a “posh Harry Palmer”. Indeed, Len Deighton and Mick Herron could be forgiven for thinking they co-wrote this monumental thriller. Don’t miss it – after all, The Gray Man isn’t out yet so read about another before watching the film.
