Patrick Mouratoglou was born in France to parents of Greek descent in 1970, and quickly developed an avid passion for tennis at an early age of six. Bjorn Borg, the Swedish legend who dominated in the late 70s and early 80s was his idol at this point in time. Patrick dreamed of becoming a professional player, but his parents had other ideas for him.
Instead, they wanted him to pursue a career in business instead and enrolled him at one of Paris’ top business schools. Although Patrick reluctantly followed their wishes, his love of tennis never died out completely. He remained passionate about playing and studying the game, becoming fascinated with its mental and tactical facets. Over time he learned how to identify individual player’s strengths and weaknesses as well as ways to help improve their performance.
A Career in Coaching
Patrick decided to pursue his passion for tennis by becoming a coach, opening the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy near Paris and with an aim of discovering and cultivating new talent. Soon thereafter he demonstrated his expertise by mentoring Marcos Baghdatis from Cyprus all the way to the final of the 2006 Australian Open and into the top ten of ATP rankings Patrick worked with rising stars Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Aravane Rezai Yanina Wickmayer Laura Robson Jeremy Chardy among many others to unleash their potential and reach their full potential while helping them become success on tour.
In 2012, Patrick took on his biggest coaching challenge yet – Serena Williams, one of the greatest players ever. Serena was at a low point after suffering an unexpected first round defeat at the French Open and needed change. Patrick agreed to work with Serena, and their partnership proved fruitful: Patrick helped Serena regain confidence, motivation, hunger for success as well as fitness, technique, strategy improvements. Together they won 10 Grand Slam titles, 3 WTA Tour Championships Championships as well as Olympic Gold medal and many more trophies; also helping Serena break several records such as having achieved 23 Grand Slam singles titles during Open Era (23rd consecutive Grand Slam singles titles in total during Open Era), as well as being oldest world number one of all time (35th).

So in 2016, he relocated his academy from Lyon to South France, constructing a state-of-the-art facility capable of housing 250 students at once as well as thousands of campers annually. Here he offers high performance training as well as academic education and personal development – hosting various professional tournaments such as Ultimate Tennis Showdown in an innovative format created specifically by Patrick himself.
