The comedian and former ‘Tonight Show” host  Jay Leno Reaction On Will Smith Slapped, Jay Leno spoke to the Palm Beach Daily News in preparation for his stand-up performance at the Kravis Center.

Smith, 71-year-old comedian and ex-host of Tonight Show, described Smith as a “good guy” while explaining what was most troubling about the entire ordeal.

“To me, what’s most troubling was not the slap because he was kinda smirking after [Rock] slapped him,” Leno said to the Palm Beach Daily News Friday ahead of his stand up show at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. It was the shouting of obscenities. You then go “Whoa!” Then you go, “Whoa!

Jay Leno shares his reaction to Will Smith’s Oscars outburst. The former Tonight Show host, now 71, spoke with the Palm Beach Daily News to discuss the controversy surrounding Will’s attack on Chris Rock, 53, onstage during the March 27 Oscars.

He was responding to a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. Will jumped up and shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out your f g mouth!” After being stunned, Rock continued with his presentation duties.

“To me, what was most troubling wasn’t the slap. He was kind of smirking when he slapped [Rock]. The obscenities were yelled at. You then go, “Whoa, what’s the matter?” This is real anger,” Leno stated, while also calling Will “a good guy.”

Leno also responded to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ statement, which stated that it had “officially begun a formal review around this incident and will explore further actions and consequences in accordance our Bylaws and Standards of Conduct and California law.”

“What are your investigations?” Leno said that it had to have been the most documented assault in history. “I saw his shoe’s back, and Chris’s ear. This incident was captured by so many cameras. Are you looking into this incident? Sometimes things can be just as they seem.”

Rock has since heard Will publicly apologize for the incident. He said that he had “reacted emotionally” to Jada’s joke about Jada being in a medical condition and it was too much for him to bear. (She has spoken out about her experience with hair loss from alopecia.

The Academy has since fired the star who was awarded Best Actor on that night. The Academy banned the actor for 10 years from all its events.

Will stated in a statement that he had resigned from the Academy because of his “shocking, painful, and inexcusable” behavior.

“I have hurt many people, including Chris and his family. He said that he had betrayed the trust shown by the Academy.  I deprived other nominees, winners, of the opportunity to be recognized for their exceptional work.  and heartbroken.  I would like to bring the attention back to those who are worthy of it and allow the Academy’s incredible work to support creativity and artistic expression in film.

Will concluded that “Change is slow and takes time. I will do the work to make sure violence doesn’t overtake reason.”

We’ve all heard many different takes on Will Smith’s slap on Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. There have also been some opinions about the Academy’s reaction to the matter.

Jay Leno’s was a unique take that we didn’t know. He shared his feelings as a late-night host, and also gave his candid view on the Academy’s response.

Jay Leno spoke out about Will Smith’s comments against Chris Rock at the Oscars broadcast this year. While he noted that the “yelling obscenities” was the thing that stood out to him at the moment, he said that he has found Will Smith to have been a “good guy” in previous interactions.

He hasn’t been able to understand the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. They had said that an investigation was ongoing about the incident and made its final decision. Jay Leno called the move out, telling the Palm Beach Daily News.
After Jada Pinkett Smith made a joke, many of us witnessed Smith slap Rock live. Unbeknownst to Pinkett Smith, Pinkett had shaved her hair after years of suffering from alopecia.

Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith comparing Gotham’s actress to a G.I. star. This got her husband mad. Jane, a sequel to the film that harkens back to when Demi Moore had her hair shaved for it.

He stayed the entire Oscars broadcast, winning Best Actor for King Richard. However, Will Smith quit the Academy days later. Chris Rock declined to press charges.

The Academy issued a statement stating that it would investigate the incident. Jay Leno called it “investigating,” but the Academy described it as more of a formal review. An official statement  published in March.

One of those movies is Bad Boys 4. I am very curious to see what happens there. Jay Leno commented on the incident at the Academy Awards last month, when Will Smith punched Chris Rock onstage following a G.I. joke.
