Some of the most important include furfuryl alcohol (sugar burnt), 2-ethyl-4-hydroxy-5-methyl-3(2H)furanone (4-HEMF) (caramel/sweet), guaiacol (burnt woody/medicinal), ethanol, methionol (potato/grassy), 1-octen-3-ol, and 4-ethylguaiacol.
If you prefer to kill earwigs rather than trap them, mix up a simple spray with water and dish soap to wipe the leaves of plants affected by earwig infestations.
You should be able to get rid of earwigs completely and stop them returning.

Boric acid can be purchas in powders and liquids. You can spray them directly onto earwig-infested surfaces to kill them instantly.
Boric acid should not be applie to the body. Always read the product label before using, and make sure to follow all instructions for mixing, application, storage and disposal of the pesticide.
Another effective earwig control method is to use a homemade spray of dish soap and water that can be spray on areas where earwigs have seen.
This can be a great alternative to chemical pesticides and can work on plant leaves as well.
