Gabrielle Union bio
Gabrielle Union was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 29, 1972, to Theresa (Glass), a phone company manager, and Sylvester E. Union, a military sergeant and business executive.
Her family moved to Pleasanton, California, when she was eight years old, where she grew up and finished high school.
Union was an all-star point guard there, as well as a year-round athlete who competed in soccer, basketball, and track. Foothill High School was her alma mater (Class of 1991).
Gabrielle attended the University of Nebraska after high school, where she was a member of the soccer team, and then transferred to Cuesta College.
She eventually landed at UCLA. Things started to happen during her senior year while she was on her way to law school, and she was just intending on being a working stiff.
Gabrielle had a college internship at a modelling firm in Los Angeles, which she believed would be a simple way to earn some extra credits.
She had no idea that the assistance was being sought by clients. She was requested to become a client of the firm after completing the internship.
Gabby saw it as a perfect way to pay off her student bills, so she modelled until her agent realised she could actually act.
Without any headshots, she landed her first audition/job on Saved by the Bell (1989).
Since then, she’s had a number of small but significant film parts and has appeared as a guest star on a number of popular television shows, all before winning the role of “Dr. Courtney Ellis” on CBS’ short-lived medical drama City of Angels (2000).
Gabrielle believes that “Hollywood has to recognise all shades of African-American beauty,” despite the fact that she plays strong and outspoken characters. Gabrielle earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology with honours from UCLA in 1996.
