Eric Radford is a pair skater from Canada who was born on January 27, 1985.
He is a two-time world champion (2015, 2016), a 2018 Olympic gold medalist in the team event, a 2014 Olympic silver medalist in the team event, a 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the pairs event, a two-time Four Continents champion (2013, 2015), the 2014–15 Grand Prix Final champion, and a seven-time Canadian national champion (2012–18) with his former partner Meagan Duhamel.
He is the first out gay male to win a gold medal in a Winter Olympic event.
Duhamel and Radford were the first pair to land a side-by-side triple Lutz jump at any Winter Olympic competition during the 2014 Olympics.
Radford, 33, earned a gold medal in the figure skating team event at the 2018 Winter Olympics, making him one of the sport’s oldest Olympic champions.
When she completed her throw quadruple Salchow three days later during the individual couples free skate, Duhamel and Radford became the first team to perform a quadruple throw jump at any Winter Olympic competition.
Radford announced his comeback to compete with new partner Vanessa James in April 2021.

Radford grew up in Balmertown, Ontario, after being born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Rick, a mine inspector, and Valerie, a retired schoolteacher, are his parents.
To pursue his skating dreams, he went to Kenora at the age of 14, Winnipeg and Montreal at the age of 15, and Toronto at the age of 16.
He earned a Grade 9 Royal Conservatory of Music certificate after studying music at York University. In 2014, he became a member of the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada, where he plays piano and creates and composes music.
Radford produced the 2016–17 free skate music for fellow Canadian skater and three-time world champion Patrick Chan during the summer of 2016.
Radford came out as gay in an interview with the LGBT journal Outsports in December 2014.
In doing so, he became the first competitive figure skater to come out while still competing for championship titles, rather than waiting until he was near or past retirement; Radford and Duhamel’s gold medal win in pairs skating at the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships made him the first openly gay figure skater to win a medal at that competition.

The city of Red Lake, which includes Radford’s hometown of Balmertown, named the street where he grew up Eric Radford Way in his honour in June 2018.
