Although a hurricane warning was cancelled west of Bogue Inlet, North Carolina, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a number of other watches and warnings for the East Coast, including:

Bogue Inlet to the North Carolina/Virginia line; Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds are under a hurricane warning.
North Carolina/Virginia border to Fenwick Island, Delaware;
Chesapeake Bay from Drum Point southward; Tidal Potomac south of Cobb Island; Woods Hole to Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts; Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts;
East of Bar Harbor to Eastport, Maine; North Carolina/Virginia border to Fenwick Island, Delaware; Chesapeake Bay from Drum Point southward; Tidal Potomac south of Cobb.
Prince Edward Island, the Magdalen Islands, the Fundy National Park to Shediac, and Francois to Boat Harbour are all under tropical storm watch.
The possibility of conditions occurring is the difference between a watch and a warning. Conditions are predicted to occur within the next 36 hours during a warning, whereas conditions are possible during a watch.
Over the next few hours, life-threatening storm surges and flash flooding are possible in North Carolina and Virginia, according to the National Weather Service.
Dorian, which was moving northeast, was forecast to move further away from the coast on Friday night, but maintain a wind speed of 90 mph.
On Friday night, the storm passed just outside Richmond, Virginia, before heading northeast and arriving outside the Nantucket Sound on Saturday morning.
On Saturday night, Dorian could make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in Nova Scotia.
