Dave chappelle candace owens : Dave Chappelle Says He’ll Never Apologize to Candace Owens, the ‘Articulate Idiot’Dave Chappelle has stated that he would not apologise for roasting Candace Owens in his Netflix special, but he has apologised for referring to her as “intelligent.”
On a recent edition of his podcast The Midnight Miracle, the comic discussed the conservative right-wing commentator.
“There’s no way I owe Candace Owens an apology, is there?” he asks his co-hosts.
Both Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey screamed, “F*** that!” and said it was “insane” that “he” brought up her name.
Chappelle delivered a Netflix special tribute to George Floyd, 8:46, in June 2020, in which he took aim at Owens.
At the time, Chappelle declared on stage, “That rotten b****, she’s the worst.” “I can’t think of a more inefficient way to earn money.” She’s the most articulate f***** I’ve ever seen.”
“Dave Chappelle is one of the best comedians of all time, and I made it into one of his specials,” Owens tweeted at the time, dismissing the remark. That is STRENGTH!”
In this week’s podcast, Chappelle brings up some of Owen’s contentious statements, such as when she referred to Floyd as a “violent criminal” after his death.
In a video released to Twitter in June 2020, she remarked, “We shouldn’t be buying T-shirts with his name on it.”
Floyd, she said, was a “violent criminal.”
“So the verdict is no apology, right?” he decides. and says that “you shouldn’t apologise for jokes” in comedy, calling it a “really horrible precedent to set.”
Chappelle also justified his jokes about kicking Owens “in the p****” for making “cruel and dangerous” remarks about George Floyd.
He emphasised that being an a****** isn’t prohibited, but that her remarks about George Floyd were “especially harsh.”
In the Netflix special, he did apologise for calling Owens “articulate.”
“By the way, Candace Owens, I apologise for referring to you as ‘articulate.'”
Meanwhile, Jon Stewart appeared on the programme, where he discussed Owens as well.
“Here’s why what you said about Candace Owens was so powerful,” the late-night host explained. “Because they’ve held you up as an avatar of truth-telling, because you’re willing to speak your work the way you want.”
“Her life is provocation, her brand is provocation, that’s how she makes her money,” he added, adding that she provides “provocation and a troll designed to boost brand recognition” rather than a “real offer of argument and exchange of views.”
