Alligator kills person near Myrtle Beach

On Friday, an alligator in a neighborhood near Myrtle Beach killed a local resident, causing authorities to put the gator to death.

Midday on Friday, news of an alligator incident at the Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club broke.

According to Horry County Police, Horry County Fire Rescue was summoned to the vicinity of Excalaber Court at around noon for a water rescue.

HCFR first warned people to stay away from the area. When they arrived, authorities discovered that an individual had been grabbed by an alligator, who then fled into a neighboring retention pond.

The deceased person was found in the pond. According to police, the alligator should be put down immediately, as determined by representatives of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

There are several enormous gators in that pond, according to neighborhood resident Jason Repak, who told The Sun News that he spotted one measuring about 12 feet earlier this week. However, he wasn’t home at the alleged event.

No information regarding the victim’s identity was immediately available, and police are currently investigating a death.
