William Hurt death: William Hurt, an Oscar-winning actor known for performances in films such as “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “Broadcast News,” died on Sunday at 71.

“The Hurt family mourns the departure of William Hurt, loving father, and Oscar winner, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday,” Will Hurt said in a statement obtained by Deadline.

“He passed away gently, surrounded by his family, from natural causes. At this time, the family begs privacy.”

Who is William Hurt?

William Hurt is an actor from the United States. In the 1970s, he began acting on stage after studying at the Juilliard School.

Hurt made his cinematic debut in Ken Russell’s science-fiction picture Altered States in 1980, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best New Star of the Year.

William Hurt death cause?

According to media sources, the actor revealed in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer that had gone to the bone.

However, he credited an alternative method of chemotherapy with preserving his life at the time.

Hurt’s death was also verified by his buddy Gerry Byrne to Variety.

Hurt, who studied acting at New York’s famous Juilliard School, became one of the most well-known leading men of the 1980s, getting three Academy Award nods for his parts in “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Children of a Lesser God,” and “Broadcast News.”

In “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” he earned an Academy Award for his portrayal of a homosexual man who shared a prison cell with a political prisoner in Brazil.

Hurt was nominated for his fourth and last Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the crime thriller “A History of Violence,” released in 2005.

He most recently starred as General Thaddeus Ross in 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” a role he would repeat in subsequent Marvel Comics-based superhero films such as “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Black Widow.”
