Who is Katie Meyer and What the Cause of Her Death: The cause of death of a top Stanford University goalkeeper who was discovered comatose in her campus house this week was revealed on Thursday.

Katie Meyer’s death was judged to be self-inflicted, and there is no evidence of foul play, according to a statement obtained by NBC Bay Area from Santa Clara County.
Her death is being investigated by the county’s medical examiner and coroner’s office, and no further details have been published.

“The Medical Examiner-Coroner expresses heartfelt sympathies to Katie Meyer’s family, friends, and admirers,” the statement read.
Meyer, a 22-year-old international relations major from Newbury Park, California, would have started the autumn semester as a senior.
Meyer is best known for saving two penalty kicks in the 2019 NCAA final as Stanford won the Women’s College Cup after a dramatic shootout victory over North Carolina.
Meyer, the team captain, appeared in all 20 of Stanford’s games in the 2021 season, helping the Cardinal finish fourth in the Pac-12 conference and proceed to the postseason before losing to a local foe, Santa Clara University.
