WD Elements 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Review

Design and Quality: WD portable external hard drive look very simple but with this unique design it’s every easy to carry. The hard drive is good for daily use fits in pocket easily. Despite the compact size, and lightweight plastic case, the drive weighs in at close to half a pound and feels pretty hefty and substantial.

  • It is small , compact and lightweight.
  • Very simple to use , just PLUG AND PLAY.
  • Doesn’t have any power on/off buttons.
  • Doesn’t make much noise while in use.

In The Box:

  • Hard Disk Drive.
  • USB Cable.
  • Information pamphlet.

Performance: The HDD has performed very well, giving great write speeds whenever I used USB 3.0 (Usually copying notoriously large GoT episodes from friends in a few minutes). Copying large game files as well as playing them right off the HDD has also been a breeze. It has a hard plastic finish with glossy trims, and rubber feet at the bottom (they came off within 4 months though lol).

  • Write speed in usb 3.0=70-12 Mbps
  • Read speed in usb 3.0=135-160 Mbps
  • Write speed in usb 2.0=28-40 Mbps
  • Read speed in usb 2.0=40-45 MBps

It doesn’t vibrate much, is pretty much noiseless, and small enough to fit in yo pocket. It seems to have a “sleep” function, which stops the disk from spinning after a certain amount of idle time. The indicator LED starts blinking whenever this happens.

Pros:

  • Very Handy.
  • Looks are great for the black matte finish..
  • Works like a charm on all operating systems.

Cons:

  • Looks a bit more Plastic.
  • Single Colour.
  • No case, not even small carry pouch like many other WD Elements cases.

Final Words:

I will suggest you to check WD My Passport Ultra before finalizing this as it has got a very super design, great and sexy colours and really light weight. If you really searching for external hard drive under 5k rupee then don’t think too much simply go for it now.
