Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise remains estranged from his daughter Suri, born in 2006 when he was married to actress Katie Holmes.
A new report on Page Six quotes a source as saying Suri now 16 lives with her mother in New York after their separation in 2011. According to The Daily Mail, Suri has started applying to colleges and plans on studying fashion.
“Suri is applying to schools across the country,” an insider revealed. “Katie really wants her to stay in New York so they can be close,” they continued, noting how Katie takes great pride in her but is also overprotective.”
Additionally, reports have said Cruise and Suri have been estranged since 2013, with Cruise expected to pay for Suri’s higher education – at which point, according to reports $400,000 annually until Suri turns 18.

As Katie put it: “Growing up as a single mom in New York has made Suri into who she is today; raised by a single mom with love and respect from Katie before anything else,” they added that Suri “is turning into an intelligent mature woman with loyal friends who love her more than anything.”
After his divorce from Holmes, Cruise admitted that he no longer had any involvement in Suri’s life; even noting in a deposition that he hadn’t seen her in three months. When facing off in court against a media publication, the actor had stated, “Divorce is never easy… things change.

It’s never an ideal setting or scenario.” “When asked about his split from Holmes, whom he seemed infatuated with at one point, Cruise acknowledged his involvement with Scientology might have contributed to it,” reported Page Six. When lawyers had inquired if Holmes had gone her own way “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Cruise replied that this had indeed been one of her assertions – yes.”
The Church of Scientology forbids members from associating with non-believers, known as’suppressive persons’.
Former Scientologist Leah Remini had revealed to The Post in 2020 that Holmes is considered an enemy by Scientology since she doesn’t subscribe to its practices; as a result, their daughter Suri cannot form any meaningful connection with her dad:
“I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so he can draw her away from her mother and into Scientology.”
Cruise is one of the world’s most prominent Scientologists, which continues to be a contentious aspect of his personal life. Professionally, Cruise had his most successful year with Top Gun: Maverick last year.
