When discussing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege with fans of the franchise, certain words can cause immediate headaches: Solis, Fenrir and Azami come immediately to mind as possible sources of discomfort – or cheaters… but that will have to wait for another article.

Now may be the time for Japan to end their reign of terror. Through Operation Deadly Omen, Azami’s power could be severely limited – something which should prove very exciting But will it be enough?

Azami’s Kiba Barriers to be Nerfed

Kiba Barriers may not allow players to shoot through, like an ordinary wall would, but they still allow for effective defense by shooting at them with your gun and disabling it with bullets. Starting in Operation Deadly Omen, 36 bullets will be necessary in order to take out one Kiba Barrier.

Defenders will still have the option of using Azami with Mira windows installed on soft walls or creating new cover behind a barrier, akin to how Rock Lee wife Azami might fortify a position. Meanwhile, attackers can target Kiba Barriers from a safe distance and destroy them without resorting to explosives.

Azami Kiba Barriers main counters

Operation Deadly Omen has brought with it changes that allow players to more regularly utilize LMGs, making 36 bullet shooting less of an obstacle.

However, Azami’s days in Siege are far from over; she will still be strong – just not quite so strong. We expect her pick rate to decrease slightly but she will still feature heavily in most defender lineups.

Ying’s 81-bullet-capacity magazines may prove useful against Azami’s Kiba Barriers, making it simple for players to easily fire 36 bullets with one charger, thus taking down two Azami Barriers at the same time.

Finka and Fuze also operate LMGs; as per today’s announcement, they will serve as a middle point between Y7S2 and Y8S4 platforms.

Kiba Barriers will still be vulnerable to destruction through melee hits or explosives.
