Shari Belafonte was born September 22 in New York City to separated parents who split while she was gestating. From David Belafonte from his second marriage, as well as Gina and Scott from her adoption process.
Shari Belafonte attended several schools across different states, such as Georgetown Day School in Washington DC; Windsor Mountain School in Lenox Massachusetts and Buxton School in Williamstown Massachusetts.

Shari Belafonte began her fashion modeling and acting career in the late 1970s, becoming an influential cover girl and appearing in commercials for Calvin Klein jeans.
