Drummond shared the news about her family’s death on Facebook on Nov. 6. Many of you know Pa-Pa through my blog and the cooking show that I hosted over the years. I wanted to share this information with you. She thanked everyone for their love and prayers, particularly for Ladd, Tim and the six grandkids.

Drummond wrote a blog post entitled “We love You Pa-Pa” on The Pioneer Woman website. She shared how it was “such an awful goodbye for our family.”

She wrote that she was sad to report that Chuck, Ladd’s father, my children’s grandfather, and my one of a kind father-in-law, died Friday morning.

Because we needed to talk with extended families, shed some tears, and take a few moments to grieve, I waited for a few days before sharing here.

But, since you have all seen photos and heard stories about Chuck since the start of my blog, I knew that I had to share them with you.

Drummond said, “He had been in decline over the last two months and we knew that his time was short.” Thank God, he died peacefully in his sleep.

The Food Network star said, “After feeling quite miserable for the last two or three months he was finally ready and willing to go.”

Drummond shared the special Chuck with. She wrote, “Many of us know Chuck as PaPa. Which is what we all called them.” He raised three sons and taught them everything he knew about ranching. Then he did the same for his six grandchildren.

She said, “He has seen all, and packed so many living into his 79-years.” He was the most happy worker, and his grandkids all knew that you shouldn’t ever, ever, ever tell Pa-Pa you’re bored… because he’d give your enough work to cure boredom forever!

Drummond, despite his “gravelly voice,” said that he was nothing but “gruff.” He maintained contact with his extended family, organized reunions for the family, and ensured that connections were kept throughout the years.

Drummond spoke of how Chuck was kind to her, and he supported her many achievements, including the way he shared her recipes, watched her QVC segments and ” mingled with and greeted visitors at The Mercantile.

She promised to post more pictures of Chuck very soon. “We love you so much, Pa-Pa. Drummond thanked Drummond for leading such a fulfilling life and for allowing us to be a part.
