Podiatrist Salary: If you enjoy working with people’s feet, a career in podiatry might be right for you. While becoming one requires a significant amount of schooling, the payoff can be enormous.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, podiatry employment is expected to grow at about the same rate as the national average.

With around 600 new podiatrist positions added to the present 10,500 jobs between 2018 and 2028, for a total rise of 6%.

Despite the fact that job statistics aren’t exactly soaring, podiatry is a rewarding profession with good pay.

We investigated and created a list of the average podiatrist salary by state in the United States using occupational data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Podiatrists make the most money in these ten states.

According to the BLS, the national average annual wage for a podiatrist is $148,220, about three times the national average annual wage for all occupations, which is $51,960.

Podiatrist wages are substantially greater than the compensation for most careers, regardless of where you live.

Even in the state with the lowest compensation for podiatrists, the average salary is about $94,000.

The top ten highest-paying states for podiatrists are listed below:

1. The average podiatrist salary in Rhode Island is $226,030.

2. The average podiatrist income in Nebraska is $219,670.

3. The average podiatrist income in Wisconsin is $201,060.

4. The average podiatrist income in South Carolina is $195,380.

5. The average podiatrist income in North Carolina is $186,510.

6. The average podiatrist income in Minnesota is $184,280.

7. The average podiatrist income in Arkansas is $183,190.

8. The average podiatrist income in Indiana is $182,030.

9. The average podiatrist salary in Illinois is $180,270.

10. The average podiatrist income in West Virginia is $175,530.

Podiatrists earn more than $200,000 per year on average in three states: Rhode Island, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

The top ten states for podiatry salaries are spread across the country, with states from the Northeast, Midwest, and South represented.

Surprisingly, states like Arkansas, South Carolina, and West Virginia, which do not typically have high compensation for most occupations, are among the states with the highest podiatrist salary.

The 10 States with the Lowest Pay for Podiatrists

The bottom ten states with the lowest pay for podiatrists are as diverse in geography as the top ten.

For example, California is the seventh-lowest-paying state for podiatrists, despite the fact that it nearly never appears on a worst-paying state list.

Here are the ten states with the lowest podiatrist salaries:

1. The average podiatrist salary in Oregon is $93,930.

2. The average podiatrist income in Connecticut is $95,610.

3. The average podiatrist income in Nevada is $109,560.

4. The average podiatrist income in Kentucky is $111,780.

5. The average podiatrist income in Montana is $119,040.

6. The average podiatrist income in Colorado is $119,190.

7. The average podiatrist income in California is $120,750.

8. The average podiatrist income in Kansas is $122,390.

9. The average podiatrist income in New Mexico is $124,660.

10. The average podiatrist income in Georgia is $125,390.

The evolution of podiatrist salaries over the previous five years illustrates several key trends.

Between 2013 and 2018, the average podiatrist salary in six of these ten states fell by a significant amount. And the decreases are significant:

• Connecticut has a -30.3 percent unemployment rate.

• Oregon has a -28.8% unemployment rate.

• Nevada has a -16.2 percent unemployment rate.

• Kentucky: -12.7   &#160

• Georgia has a 9.5 percent unemployment rate.

• -4.5 percent in Kansas

It’s worth noting that only a few years ago, in 2014, Oregon’s average podiatrist salary was $159,230, making it the fifth-highest paying state at the time.

The average pay declined more than $30,000 from 2014 to 2015, and then dropped another $30,000 from 2016 to 2017.

What Do Podiatrists Get Paid in Each State?

Unfortunately, the BLS does not have wage data for podiatrists in all 50 states.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has the average podiatrist pay for 40 states for 2018.

Data from past years is not always readily available. From 2013 to 2018, the average yearly wage for podiatrists was calculated in as many states as data was available.
