The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued recommendations regarding cloth face covers (CDC)
In public places where conventional social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), the CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings, especially in areas where community-based transmission is common.
Maintaining a 6-foot social distance is critical to reducing the virus’s transmission.
The CDC also recommends the use of simple fabric face covers to help reduce the spread of the virus and prevent persons who may be infected but are unaware of it from spreading it to others.
Cloth face coverings constructed from common household objects or produced at home from low-cost materials can be utilised as a voluntary public health precaution.
Surgical masks or N-95 respirators are not among the suggested textile face coverings.
As indicated by current CDC advice, they are important items that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders.
