The New Jersey election has been a busy time for everyone in the state. From the governor’s race to the races for Congress, mayors, and other local and statewide offices, a lot has been happening. Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, there’s always something to get excited about.

Andy Kim

Andy Kim won the election in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, defeating Republican Bob Healey by a narrow margin. Andy Kim was the first Asian American to win a seat in Congress in New Jersey.

The victory comes at a time of headwinds for Democrats, as Republicans are expected to regain control of the House of Representatives.

Andy Kim’s win also strengthens Democratic candidates in other races.

The New Jersey Globe forecasts that Andy Kim will win a second term. The 3rd Congressional District is a swing town and includes one of the state’s most populous municipalities, Hamilton. It is located in southern and central New Jersey.

Cory Booker

Cory Booker was elected to the US Senate in 2013. He is the first Black person to win a statewide office in New Jersey. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree from Yale Law School.

He also holds a Rhodes Scholarship. During his campaign, he made progressive criminal justice reform a top priority, and he was instrumental in passing legislation that he helped write, including legislation to limit the use of harsh sentences for non-violent offences.

Cory Booker is a member of the Democratic Party. In his campaign, he supported raising the federal minimum wage, legalizing recreational marijuana, and strengthening reproductive rights.

His platform also called for a national plan to reduce gun violence.

Robert Lane Jr.

The race in New Jersey for the 6th congressional district was a close one, but ultimately incumbent Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. defeated Republican challenger Susan M. Kiley.

Although the Associated Press hasn’t officially called the race, poll workers reported a brisk turnout in most municipalities.

Some polls showed that turnout was higher than in previous elections. One poll worker said that the increase was due to the “strength” of the message being sent out to voters.

While it’s unlikely that the tally will be accurate until the mail-in ballots are counted, it does show that the Democrats did well in several key areas.

In Middlesex County, incumbent Rep. Bill Pascrell beat out Republican challenger Billy Prempeh.

Kathy Eagan

Whether you live in Central New Jersey or the boroughs, local issues took center stage. The Toms River area is no exception. Three of the four seats up for grabs are in play.

Among the many local races to watch is the Toms River Regional Board of Education.

Deputy Mayor Rick Hibell is running for re-election, as is Committeeman Kevin Settembrino. With three seats up for grabs, it’s a dogfight.

While not everyone can be a winner, this year’s crop of candidates are more than capable of running a decent campaign.

Aside from the usual suspects, some of the more promising names include Lea Webb, Stacey Duncan, and Daynne Glover.

Assemblyman Alex Sauickie III

After the death of Assemblyman Ron Dancer (R), the Republican representatives of four counties chose Jackson Township Council Vice President Alex Sauickie III as their nominee for the seat. He will serve as an Assemblyman until the end of 2022.

The new 12th Legislative District comprises parts of Burlington, Middlesex, and Monmouth counties. It also includes Allentown, Matawan, Millstone, and Wrightstown.

The new district was drawn after the Legislature created the legislative map in 2011. The four counties were merged into one to create a 12-district assembly.

Since 2011, the 12th district has been a part of the New Jersey legislature.
