Actress Lisa Bonet was born on November 16, 1967 in San Francisco, California. Her parents are African-American and Jewish.

Her father, Allen Bonet, is an opera singer. Her mother, Arlene Bonet, was a music teacher. Bonet holds multiple nationalities.

She attended Birmingham High School in Van Nuys and graduated from the Celluloid Actor’s Studio in North Hollywood. Bonet is married to actor Jason Momoa.

Lisa Bonet’s parents split when she was a child. She has two half-brothers and five half-sisters.

Lisa began acting at age 11 and received her high school diploma.

She was 16 when she landed her role as Denise Huxtable in the popular sitcom, “The Cosby Show”. Her role as a TV actress earned her recognition and acclaim for her role.

Bonet got the role of Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show, the second-oldest child of Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad, after competing in beauty pageants and starring in guest spots on television series as a child.

She took a break from The Cosby Show in 1987 to star in the spin-off series A Different World, which centred on Denise’s college years.

That year, Bonet, at 19, starred alongside Mickey Rourke in the film Angel Heart as Epiphany Proudfoot, a 17-year-old girl.

Several seconds of a graphic sequence she shared with Rourke (filmed when she was 18) were cut out of the film to keep the R rating. Bonet was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for Angel Heart.

In Interview magazine, it was followed by a topless centerspread.

Bonet received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1988.

Bonet departed the series after revealing her pregnancy during the run of A Different World.

The next year, she returned to The Cosby Show, but was sacked in April 1991 due to “creative differences.” Following The Cosby Show, Bonet appeared in a number of direct-to-video and made-for-television films.

Bonet hosted Why Bother Voting?, an election programme focusing on the concerns and indifference of young voters, in September 1992.

She has supporting roles in the films Enemy of the State (1998) and High Fidelity (2000).

Bonet married American rock singer Lenny Kravitz in Las Vegas on November 16, 1987, her 20th birthday.

Bonet reminisced on their friendship: “When we were initially getting to know each other, it was surprising to see how similar our backgrounds were.

I felt that was both odd and enchanting when I told him my mother was Jewish and he replied, “So is my father.” “OK, here’s someone who actually knows how it is,” I thought.

And I believe I trusted him with my feelings a little more and let him in a little more than I normally would.”
