It is now known that Issei Sagawa died on November 24, 2022. Some of his closest relatives attended the funeral. The family didn’t plan it so no one else was allowed to attend.
His younger brother and a close friend shared the information. Issei, as I mentioned, killed a Dutch student and ate the body. It was 1981, when Renee Hartvelt, a Dutch student, invited Issei to his home.
Let’s tell you, Issei was at the time a student in Paris. According to reports, the man shot the girl in her neck. He then proceeded to rape her after shooting her in her neck.
He ate her entire body over several days, even though he didn’t feel satisfied by this.
Some parts of the body that he ate were left behind, even though he devoured it. Sagwa tried to dispose off her remains at the Bois de Boulogne Park.
He confessed to his crime to police, who then arrested him. His crime shocked the nation. How could someone consume another’s body of life? French medical professionals deemed Sagwa unfit to stand trial in 1983.
He was deported to Japan in 1984 after being initially kept in a mental institution. The victim’s family, who had pledged to support Sagwa in Japan at the time, did not like the decision.
They believed that the man deserved punishment to ensure that the murderer would not be free. Japanese authorities ruled that Sagwa had a character anomaly, and that he didn’t need hospitalization.
