Instagram thirst traps can be fun and games…until your brother sees them, that is. Just ask Kate Hudson.

On July 2, Kate Hudson, star of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, posted an Instagram photo featuring nothing but her long blonde hair covering her chest. Kate captioned the pic “‘s out,” adding several coffee emojis alongside it.

Of course, the photo quickly went viral with over 400,000 likes and support from celebrities like Paris Hilton and Michelle Pfeiffer. Singer Janelle Monae commented, “I must recreate this,” while Selma Blair wrote: “That’s a lovely morning!”

However, at least one well-known person in the comments wasn’t a fan. Hudson’s own brother Oliver commented, “Nope!” Older siblings all share similar brains, don’t they?

Oliver and Kate Hudson’s parents are Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson; however, they were raised by Hawn and her stepfather Kurt Russell. “Estrangement is unfortunately quite common,” Hawn shared in a candid interview with USA Today in January 2021. “I think it’s important for people to talk about that if they find it difficult to reconnect or if the situation becomes too challenging, that it’s okay – right?”

She continued, “My mother is beautiful. And then there is my stepfather who stepped in and shared this important role of having a reliable father figure in our life – but that doesn’t take away from the fact that we didn’t know him.”

Kate also discussed her blended family, raising three children with three different dads. In an interview, the Fabletics founder revealed that she shares 18-year-old Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson; 10-year-old Bingham with ex-fiance Matt Bellamy; and 3-year-old Rani Rose with Danny Fujikawa.

“My life is very busy with multiple dads and kids scattered everywhere,” she admitted. “The only expectations that really matter in my life are for my children and family – other than that, it’s like, let it go – I work my tail off and hope for the best.”
