employee of the NY Times, has unfortunately passed away leaving behind her loved ones and friends. Sources say Joyce Dopkeen died Tuesday in Rockville (Md.).
Sources say that Jonathan Dopkeen, her brother, confirmed her death. Many officials and loved ones have been trying to find out the cause of her tragic death since the announcement.

According to official reports, Joyce Dopkeen died from heart failure. According to her brother, she took her final breath in a hospital.

Salvador Martinez, a Facebook user wrote that Joyce Dopkeen was the first woman hire by The New York Times in 1973 as a full time staff photographer. This began a 35-year-long career with The Times. Joyce is now 80.
Joyce Harriet Dopkeen was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 23, 1942. Her father was a pediatrician, and her mother an artist.
Joyce traveled extensively with her camera in order to take pictures for The Times.
She captured the fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, as well as images of female prisoners training service dogs or children having fun in urban parks.
Nancy Lee, a former picture editor at The Times wrote that “The pix were always an unchanged version of the story.
“ She was able to capture the perfect moment. Joyce Dopkeen was hire by The Times as a photojournalist.
