He was born in Chicago to an Italian immigrant and Benedictine schoolteacher named Edward Ryan.
In 1968, he graduated from Benedictine University with a degree in political technology.
From there, he went straight to law school at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he earned his J.D.
In the early 1970s, he worked for various governmental bodies to acquire legal experience.

The former foreign-language teacher and guidance counselor worked for the company for fourteen years.
His first big break came in 1958 when he was granted a license by the Bell Labs to manufacture transistors.
He then worked at several administrative bodies to develop his political mind.
Later, he began to appear unkempt and overly curt in public. However, this did not deter him from his philanthropic work.

After serving his constituents for eight years, Republican congressman Jim Ryan suddenly passed away on June 12, 2022.
The former state senator’s battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma forced him to undergo chemo treatments.
After undergoing his first round of chemotherapy in 1996, he returned to the disease and died in June 2022.
He was a high school graduate and married the love of his life. The couple had four children and eleven grandchildren.
His family has organized fundraisers to prevent suicide. They also raised thousands of dollars for children with brain tumors.
The late congressman was a married man when he died. His wife, Marie, died of an undiagnosed brain tumor in 1997.
Two other children were born to the couple: Jim and Marie. Their youngest child, Anne Marie, died of an undetected brain tumor in 1997.
Their son, Patrick, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2007.
Jim Ryan death cause
After a long illness and a series of heart attacks, a heart attack that killed Jim Ryan’s wife Marie on June 12, 2022 is still under investigation.
It is not known exactly what caused the couple’s death, but there are many possible causes. Marie Ryan, Jim Ryan’s wife, had been diagnosed with stage 2 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1997.
She subsequently began chemotherapy for the disease, which was unsuccessful.
In 2007, Jim and Marie had a complicated coronary heart attack. The cause of Jim Ryan’s death was not revealed until the Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul passed out a statement about his death.
After being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in August 1996, Ryan resigned as attorney general. He was undergoing aggressive treatment when his wife, Annie, suddenly collapsed.
She had a brain tumor that had not yet been diagnosed. In 1997, Ryan’s wife Marie also had a serious heart condition.
Ryan’s death was not unexpected, as his three sons and daughter survive him.
His funeral service will be held at Visitation Catholic Church on Saturday.
