How to Drive Traffic Using Reddit: Many businesses and brands opt to use popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Youtube to drive traffic to their websites. While these are undoubtedly effective options, you might also want to take a pause and utilize other platforms that are mostly overlooked, but yet have equal or even more capacity to boost traffic to your own website.

How to Drive Traffic Using Reddit

Would you believe that Reddit.com is actually proven to be one of the most efficient ways to do so? To begin with, Reddit has more than 300 million monthly active users, with an average of 11 million visits every single day. With these figures, Reddit is much more than just another social media platform – it is a community.

To help you get started using this huge platform effectively, here are the five ways to drive traffic using Reddit.

  • Familiarize yourself with the Reddit community

You do not want to rush into a war without any weapons with you, now do you? So, before making any engagements, make sure first you understand how the system works. How the participants communicate with each other, what types of discussions are generally on the scene, which topics lure more interests (i.e., what’s trending), etc. More importantly, know the do’s and don’ts, the norm, and the frowned-upon, to avoid yourself from being banned.

  • Engage yourself in relevant topics and conversations

Reddit is home to various niche topics, and you need to find the right discussions that you can actively participate in, ideally something related to your website’s niche or industry. Thankfully, by using ‘subreddits,’ you can narrow down a general topic to more specific ones. By using this topic-search feature, you would be able to jump into relevant discussions where you can subtly share a link to your website.

  • Post interesting and valuable content

Trying to cover the massive population in Reddit might be a bit of a stretch, so what you would want to do is to reach influential communities by posting valuable content. You can either post your original text or share a relevant link that’s related to the discussed topic; however, be cautious not to make your engagement look like a marketing strategy; otherwise, you might be saying goodbye to your Reddit account and your entire plan. You would also want to be more creative in using titles for your shared links to make your post more enticing.

  • Make use of Paid ad campaigns

If you have the fortune (and not that much of it), you can easily catch the attention of Redditors and lure them to your website or landing page by utilizing ‘Reddit Ads.’ You can choose whether you want untargeted ads where everyone sees them, or targeted ads where you can specifically select in which subreddits or which particular influential communities you would like your ads to be shown. Naturally, targeted ads usually convert better (as seen on other advertising and marketing platforms such as Ads Supply, Google Ads, etc.).

  • Identify your target timezone

Preferably, the best time to post on Reddit is somewhere between 8 AM and 10 AM (ET). However, that can still be modified depending on your target audience. You can either post on your local time if you are aiming for local traffic, or you can adjust it accordingly in order to reach more international traffic.
