Christina Applegate is an actor and actress best known for her parts in many movies, such as ‘Father’s Day’. However, she has also suffered from a number of health problems. Her health has been affected by multiple surgeries, including ones for Multiple Sclerosis and cancer.

Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis, also known as MS, is a neurological disease that can affect the central nervous systems. It causes the body to eat away at nerve tissue and disrupts the brain’s ability to process signals.

It is impossible to cure the disease. It can however be managed. The treatment options include physical therapy, drug-modifying medicines, rehabilitative treatments, and many other methods. MS patients may experience fatigue, pain and numbness. Some people have difficulty seeing.

Multiple sclerosis, a deadly disease, is very common. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, nearly one million Americans have it. If you’re concerned about being diagnosed with it, you should consult a neurologist. A doctor can evaluate your family medical history and determine whether you have any risk factors.

People of all ages can be diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. At greatest risk are females. While some MS cases are slow-moving, others may progress quickly. MS is not curable.

The good news is that there are ways to slow down or even stop the progression of MS and improve the quality of life for those who have it.

Cancer

Christina Applegate has always been vocal in her support for women’s rights and has even faced cancer. She was 36 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She underwent a mastectomy and a lumpectomy. She is expected to fully recover after the operation, which helped reduce the chance of her cancer spreading.

Christina’s mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer at an early age. Christina realized that her family history put her at higher risk of developing breast cancer.

She underwent a genetic test to find out if she carried the BRCA gene, which increases her chances of developing breast and ovarian cancer. Luckily, she was found to be a BRCA carrier, and her cancer was caught at an early stage.

Having a genetic test helped her make an educated decision regarding her treatment. She chose to have a double mastectomy, which removed both breasts and her ovaries.

Post-surgery challenges

Christina Applegate revealed recently she had been diagnosed with multiple-sclerosis (MS). The rare condition affects around 2.3million people in the world.

You may experience numbness and/or tingling in your fingers or hands, difficulty sleeping, loss of balance, and trouble getting up from the ground. You can get treatment to reduce the severity of symptoms.

This actress was diagnosed with MS at an uncommonly young age considering that it can affect men and women of any age. The majority of cases occur between the ages 20 and 40.

However, she was able to be cured of the disease early on. Her health issues, which included a mastectomy as well as breast cancer, have been shared openly by her. She’s had some relapses following her surgery but she is also able to share her knowledge with others.

Her MS status update was challenging. She explained that she was undergoing MRI screening and that her physician recommended a biopsy.
