Box Office: Marvel’s movie ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is Tops $1.8 Billion Worldwide: Walt Disney’s film Avengers Infinity War is earning another $28.7 million (-53%) on its fourth weekend, bringing its 24-day domestic total to $595m. The MCU epic should cross the $600m domestic milestone sometime this week, perhaps as early on Wednesday.

That will take its 27th day of release, still right between The Force Awakens in 12 days and Black Panther in 31 days. Speaking of which, its fourth weekend was just barely above Black Panther’s $26m fifth weekend.
So, yes, Avengers: Infinity War’s domestic total will eventually start trailing Black Panther’s. At this juncture, it is still looking like Infinity War will end its local running with over/under $655m.
I expect Disney to go the extra mile to get it over the movie Titanic’s $659m domestic cume to put it in fourth place on the all-time local chart.
But it is still doing blow-out business overseas, earning another $84.4m outside of North America, including $53.7m in the second weekend in China.
It has earned $302m there already, becoming the fourth-biggest Hollywood grosser in the world’s biggest moviegoing marketplace.
It sits behind only the movie Transformers Age of Extinction $320m in the year 2014 and the last two Fast and Furious film $391m in the year 2015 and $392m in the year 2017.
Oh, and it is the second movie, after the film Furious 7, to earn $300m in two different territories.
The MCU flick has earned $1.218 billion overseas, pushing it past Furious 7 $1.163b to become the third-biggest overseas earner of all time, behind the film Titanic $1.5b and Avatar $2b.
And with $1.814b worldwide, it is the fourth-biggest global grosser, behind for now the movie Star Wars The Force Awakens $2.068b, Titanic $2.1b and Avatar $2.78b.
Yes, it is still on track to top $2b worldwide by the end of its run, but the global cume of the movie Titanic is counting the reissues is still likely a bridge-too-far.
I guess that is an Avengers4 Goal or maybe an Avatar2Goal, especially if the film Avatar 2 does become a Disney property by 2020.
Yes, it takes a hit in North America thanks to Deadpool 2, but the waters are receding. Yes, it somewhat collapsed in China, as expecting, and fell 75% in its second weekend, but the waters receded.
The next super-duper test will be how it holds up against Solo A Star Wars Story, next weekend’s biggie that A is chasing a similar demographic and B is also a Walt Disney flick.
It remains amusing the extent to which Disney is willing to pile their big tentpoles on top of each other mostly, but when you are after market share domination, you don’t necessarily mind a little bit of self-cannibalization.
So, these are the points to describe on the Box Office Marvel’s movie Avengers Infinity War’ is Tops $1.8 Billion Worldwide.
