EXCLUSIVE – Ricky Martin has never been in a relationship with his nephew, a lawyer for the singer stated Friday. The singer is facing allegations of domestic abuse by a younger relative in Puerto Rico.
Ricky Martin faces accusations of incest in Puerto Rico
Marty Singer, Martin’s lawyer, told Deadline today that “Unfortunately the person making this claim is suffering from deep mental health problems.” The Hollywood litigator and Hollywood heavyweight Ricky Martin said that he has never been involved in any type of romantic or sexual relationship with his nephew. The idea is both absurd and disgusting.
Singer stated that everyone hopes the man receives the urgent help he needs. We look forward to the dismissal of this terrible case as soon as a judge examines the facts.
Martin was issued a temporary restraining or in recent weeks. Martin also faces further violence claims and other allegations in connection to a seven-month-old affair with his 21-year-old nephew. Puerto Rico has set July 21 as the hearing on these claims. Martin could face a nearly 50 year sentence if he is convicted of domestic abuse with a family member.
These claims and the lawyer’s response are coming as Martin, who is a Grammy winner and star in The Assassination Of Gianni Versace American Crime Story, is facing a $3 million lawsuit from Rebecca Drucker, his manager. The suit stems from unpaid commissions. To expedite the matter, Drucker and her Venable LLP team dangled a sword of Damocles above Martin. They also allege that Drucker saved Martin, a substance-abusing “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer, from a “potentially career-ending allegation” in September 2020.
Drucker has been unable to speak out since Drucker filed her complaint at Los Angeles Superior Court June 29. Martin and his Lavely & Singer lawyers have been quiet on the matter.
Apple TV+ was also silent about Martin’s appearance in the comedy series Mrs American Pie. Martin stars alongside Kristen Wiig and Allison Janney. Martin, however, was actually filming today in LA on the Abe Sylvia-penned series and Tate Taylor-helmed series.
An earlier month, when a Puerto Rican judge approved a TRO against Martin, a CAA-repped singer, his camp blasted the claims of domestic abuse as “completely falsified and fabricated”. The petition for the restraining orders was filed under the law 54 on the island, also known as Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act.
