Fitness is a passion that knows no age. For 92-year-old Anne Lorimor, fitness has been a way of life that has earned her a world record. Lorimor’s incredible feat is a testament to the fact that age is just a number, and with determination and consistency, anyone can achieve their goals.

Born in Chicago in 1928, Lorimor has always led an active lifestyle, from hiking to skiing, and rock climbing. But running was never a part of her routine until she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in her late 60s. Lorimor took up running to stay active and soon discovered that she had a knack for it.

At the age of 85, Lorimor set her sights on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. The mountain stands at 19,341 feet and is a challenging climb even for experienced trekkers. But that did not deter Lorimor. She trained rigorously for months, running eight miles a day, hiking, and doing strength training.

In 2015, at the age of 85, Lorimor summited Mount Kilimanjaro, becoming the oldest person to do so. Her record was short-lived, and she was soon surpassed by another 88-year-old, but Lorimor did not let that hold her back. She continued to participate in marathons, half-marathons, and other fitness events.

In 2017, at the age of 89, Lorimor broke the world record for the oldest person to trek to the Everest Base Camp. The 17-day trek was a grueling test of endurance, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. But Lorimor was undaunted, relying on her fitness and mental toughness to push through the challenges.

In 2019, at the age of 91, Lorimor broke another record, becoming the oldest person to climb Pico de Orizaba, the highest volcano in Mexico. The climb was a culmination of months of training and preparation, and Lorimor’s determination paid off when she reached the summit.

Lorimor’s inspiring journey shows that age is just a number and that anyone can achieve their goals with hard work and persistence. Her passion for fitness has not only kept her fit and healthy but has also earned her a place in the record books.
