1. Kinkakuji Temple

Kinkakuji Temple is situated in Northern Kyoto. It is a Zen temple which is nowadays known as Rokuonji. This immensely beautiful temple is covered with gold on the top two floors.

As you visit the temple you will see the architecture of each floor is different and equally impressive and eye catching. If you visit the first floor you will see statues of the Shaka Buddha and Yoshimitsu.

As you go to the second floor you will see a Kannon Bodhisattva which has statues of the Four Heavenly Kings at its surrounding and the last floor has a golden phoenix inside.

There is a Anmintaku pond and also statues where people throw coins to try their luck. Other than this there are more interesting things that one can see here.

2. Nijo Castle

Nijo castle was built in 1603 as a residence for Tokugawa leyasu. This castle is divided into three parts. As you enter from the huge east gate you will see the beauty of this place.

The main circle of defence (Honmaru), the secondary circle of defense (Ninomaru) and some gardens that cover them both. Firstly you will enter the Ninomaru through a Chinese style gate called Karamon gate.

The Ninomaru palace is filled with tetami mat and beautifully decorated ceilings and painted sliding doors. The honmaru palace is usually not opened for the public. There are several cherry and orchard trees that add beauty to the palace.

3. Iwatayama Monkey Park

Iwatayama Monkey Park

The monkey park in Iwatyama is a commercial park in Japan. You can enjoy hiking through the trails from entrance to top. Here at the Iwatayama monkey park you can find wild deer’s and also birds of several kinds on the trees in the park.

On the top of the tree there is a hut where you can feed the monkey and play with them. If you are visiting at the time of spring then enjoy the blooming flowers and the leaves.

There is a viewing platform which is 160 meters above the sea level. Also enjoy with your kids in the playground of the park.

4. Gion

Gion is the traditional entertainment district of Kyoto. It was also called as the Gion Shrine. Now you will find some entertainment things at this beautiful place. There are bars, restaurants, traditional teahouse and many more things that will give you immense pleasure. Here you will find a Minamiazi Kabuki theater where you will enjoy the famous Kabuki drama of Japan. Also you can see beautiful temples and shrines at Gion. 5. Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is situated in the southern Kyoto. This shrine is important amongst the other shrines dedicated to Rice god. The trails over here will take you to the Inari Mountains. Here at these grounds of the Shrine you will see the statues of foxes as they are considered as the messenger. This shrine is a tourist attraction due to its mind blowing architecture. The gates, the windows, the doors and many other things are worth seeing at this place. The Torii gates are really very beautiful. Many things are donated in the shrine as you will find the name of the person.
