The Impeachment cast

The impeachment cast are listed below, along with comparisons to their real-life equivalents.

Clive Owen as Bill Clinton

Clive Owen is the lead cast of Impeachment. The Oscar-nominated British actor had to disguise his accent in order to play the president who was born and raised in Arkansas and became the center of controversy after confessing to having an affair with Monica Lewinsky.

At first glance, his casting might seem like a strange choice, but with the right hair and makeup, the actor can be made to look exactly like Clinton.

The appeal of the part, according to Owen, was “the idea of reproducing the original video or archival footage.” “When a challenge feels risky, there’s something about it that always makes me excited.”

Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky

The White House intern at the center of the incident, Lewinsky, is portrayed by Booksmart’s 28-year-old actress. Lewinsky herself is a producer for Impeachment: American Crime Story, so Feldstein already has her approval: “I’m just beyond delighted and I’m extremely happy,” she said to Vanity Fair in 2019. (Lewinsky has since become an anti-bullying activist and a contributor.)

Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp

If it’s a Ryan Murphy film, Paulson is undoubtedly involved. The actor, who has been in practically every notable Murphy series, portrays Linda Tripp, a US federal servant who served as Monica Lewinsky’s confidante before disclosing phone recordings to independent counsel Kenneth Starr.

Paulson put on weight for the part despite having a different physical make-up than Tripp did. In an interview with People, actress Sarah Paulson said, “I don’t feel like it would be a great idea for me to come to work putting on some kind of faux suit and being all mucked up and not being able to move my face nor experience the things that she [Tripp] might have been feeling.”

Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones

The Tony-winning Broadway performer makes her debut in the Murphyverse with a brief cameo appearance as Andrew Cunanan’s pal Elizabeth Cote in The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

She will take on a more significant role this time around as Paula Jones, an Arkansas state employee who accused Clinton of sexual harassment in 1994 and filed a landmark lawsuit that anticipated the explosive Lewinsky scandal.

Four years later, Jones and Clinton finally came to an amicable resolution.

Edie Falco as Hillary Rodham Clinton

Falco plays the first lady to a stumbling president after earning Emmys for her roles in The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie. During the Hulu documentary series Hillary, HRC discussed keeping her marriage together in the face of Bill’s adultery.

She said, “I stood by him and defended him because I believed the impeachment procedure was wrong, but that wasn’t the required solution to what I would do with my marriage. “To me, it wasn’t the same.

I still needed to determine if I wanted to stay married and if the union was worth rescuing.

Cobie Smulders as Ann Coulter

The notorious right-wing novelist is played by the How I Met Your Mother actor instead of Betty Gilpin from GLOW. Coulter, a former attorney and Senate staffer at the time of the Clinton affair, offered legal counsel to both Tripp and Jones.

Later, as a political commentator, Coulter questioned the wisdom and sanity of Clinton on the news circuit. High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton was the title of the best-selling book she wrote about the scandal in 1998.

Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge

Let’s talk about the Murphyverse now, Billy Eichner. The comedian, who has appeared in two seasons of American Horror Story, portrays Matt Drudge, the creator of the Drudge Report, an online news aggregator.

Drudge established himself as a respected conservative source by being the first to report on the Lewinsky cheating scandal. In the most Eichner way possible, Eichner himself announced his involvement in the show in a since-deleted tweet that included a link to a Fox News piece about the casting but featured the incorrect actor’s picture.

He wrote, “That’s not me you fucking idiots.” Excellent fact-checking as usual! ”

Judith Light as Susan Carpenter-McMillan

Light assumes the position of a “conservative feminist” after roles in Murphy’s The Politician and The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

When Paula Jones sued Bill Clinton for sexual harassment in 1994, Carpenter-McMillan served as her spokesman and oversaw Jones’s legal fund.

Additionally, the legal advisor was “key” in persuading Jones to reject a purported $700,000 payment from Clinton that omitted a direct apology to her client.

Margo Martindale as Lucianne Goldberg

Martindale adopts a new real-life persona after her Emmy-nominated performance as civil rights icon Bella Abzug in Mrs. America.

She assumes the role of Goldberg, an infamous literary agent who assisted in pressuring Linda Tripp into recording her phone calls with Monica Lewinsky. Additionally, Goldberg oversaw the delivery of Tripp’s tapes to independent counsel Kenneth Starr’s office, where the scandal was publicized internationally.

Blair Underwood as Vernon Jordan

The seasoned actor portrays Vernon Jordan, a close adviser to Clinton who exploited his connections to get Lewinsky a position at Revlon in New York City.

Despite giving repeated testimony in front of a grand jury, he was eventually not included in the special prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s final report. Age 85 saw Jordan pass away in March 2021.

Mira Sorvino as Marcia Lewis

In the movie Impeachment, the Academy Award winner portrays Monica Lewinsky’s mother, who confided in her daughter in the days following the revelation of the Clinton affair.

According to an unnamed family member who spoke to The Washington Post in 1998, “Monica worships her mother.” “The two of them are quite close. and similar.

Lewis, who was compelled to testify before a grand jury on Lewinsky’s relationship with the president, recently discussed this tumultuous time period for the 2018 docuseries The Clinton Affair. Lewis once said, “Marcia is Monica squared.”

Taran Killam as Steve Jones

The former Saturday Night Live performer portrays Steve, the husband of Paula Jones who supported her during the 1994 sexual harassment lawsuit.

The Los Angeles Times stated that Paula and Steve frequently disagreed on how to proceed with the lawsuit. After seven years of marriage and two children, Steve filed for divorce from Paula in 1999, citing irreconcilable differences.
