Manmohan Samal appointed new president of Odisha BJP-Everything You need to know

Prior to the 2024 general and Odisha Assembly elections, Manmohan Samal appointed a new president of Odisha BJP has been appointed as Odisha BJP president.

Samal was appointed by BJP national president J.P. Nadda as the state BJP chief, party general secretary, and in-charge headquarters, according to an order released today.

Samal expressed his gratitude to the central leadership for placing their trust in him and giving him such an important task.

“The people of Odisha are eagerly awaiting an alternative government,” Samal declared. “We must all come together in concert, with collective energy, leadership and determination, to bring that dream into reality,” she added.

He promised that the next election would be determined by voters, bringing the BJP government back to power.

According to Party MLA Nauri Naik, the current three-year tenure of Odisha BJP president Samir Mohanty has come to an end and the party has elected a new president.

Naik told reporters that Samal’s appointment as party president will help strengthen the party ahead of the 2024 general and Assembly election.

Samal had a major role to play in his party’s victory in the by-poll for the Dhamnagar Assembly seat held in November last year.

“He has served as state president and minister, demonstrating his vast experience and organizational talent during the Dhamnagar by-poll. With his leadership, I am sure we will give a united front in the next election,” said Subash Panigrahi, BJP leader and MLA.

Samal, a senior leader from the coastal district Bhadrak, was elected to the Odisha Assembly in 2004.

During the BJP-BJD coalition government (2004-2008), he served as Minister for Revenue and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare. Furthermore, he served on numerous committees within the Assembly.

Notably, the BJP has appointed senior leader and adept organizer Sunil Bansal as in charge of their State unit. Jayanarayan Mishra, a senior MLA who is vocal against Naveen Patnaik’s government policies, then was named Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to has issued harsh criticism of the state government on various matters.
