Reddit and Twitter users have shared an autopsy sketch of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi as they await trial in a photo trial hearing. But what exactly is this case about?
On January 26th, 2020, Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi Bryant tragically perished in a helicopter crash. As they were traveling aboard an S-76B aircraft which plummeted from 2,000 feet per minute, seven other passengers also perished at the mountainside in California.
One year after the tragic event, details about the crash are being investigated, such as the history of the pilot, weather conditions and safety features of his helicopter. On August 10, 2022 a trail hearing regarding crash photos is set to commence.
Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s widow, has filed a civil lawsuit alleging deputies took pictures of Kobe’s body and showed them to the public just two days after his crash. She claims they violated her privacy in doing so and will take legal action in court.

Four months after their tragic deaths, an autopsy report was released for Kobe Bryant and Gigi. A series of sketches posted on Reddit and Twitter demonstrate the extent of physical harm both father and daughter sustained.
According to the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Bryant and all of the victims suffered blunt force injuries which led to their deaths being ruled accidents. On January 26, 2020, a helicopter crashed near Calabasas, California killing all aboard.
Additionally, a comprehensive autopsy report documents the crash’s devastating aftermath – including dismemberment and burns that left several of its victims barely recognizable. Despite these injuries, none of those involved felt pain from the impact.
The autopsy sketch is essential in this case as it will allow the jury to better comprehend what was shared between parties. After all, invading someone’s privacy without consent is considered a social crime, and Vanessa Bryant subsequently sued the deputies; thus far, their case has already completed its third trial.

The jury concluded that pilot error was the primary cause of the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board has stated that fogs and clouds were present during the flight. Undoubtedly, the pilot’s decision to break rules by flying through dense clouds contributed to his crash.
Ara Zobayan had instructed the Air Traffic Control tower (ATC) that he would climb to 4,000 feet when clouds were at or above 1,100 feet.

Instead of ascending, however, he rose to approximately 2,300 feet before turning left and starting his descent at an incredible rate of 4,000 feet per minute.
According to The Los Angeles Times report, Zobayan may have thought he was ascending when actually descending due to misperceived altitude and acceleration. This led to a’somatogravic illusion.’
