In 2018, the 59-year-old Visentin joined Xerox. The Xerox family “is extremely saddened by this unfortunate occurrence and expresses its heartfelt sympathies to John’s wife, his five daughters, and his family,” according to a statement issued by the business on Wednesday.

Since entering the company, “John drove Xerox forward,” according to James Nelson, Chairman of the Xerox Board of Directors.

As a proponent of innovation, he upheld and strengthened Xerox’s history as a provider of print and services and set out on a revolutionary path that expanded the company’s expertise and offers to digital and IT services, financial services, and disruptive technologies.

The interim CEO will be Steve Bandrowczak, who has been president and chief operating officer of Xerox since 2018.

We are all deeply grieved by this dreadful news, and in this trying time, we are keeping his family at the forefront of our minds, Bandrowczak said. “John’s goal was clear, and the Xerox team will continue pursuing it” in addition to upholding our obligations to our partners, shareholders, and consumers.

After an agreement with activist investor Carl Icahn, a significant Xerox shareholder, was struck, Visentin, who had previously worked as an executive with a variety of technology businesses, was elected CEO in 2018.

After a dispute between Icahn and Xerox executives about the company’s direction, Visentin, who was Icahn’s consultant at the time, was appointed CEO.

In the Rochester region, Xerox employs over 1,765 people, primarily in Webster.
