Joel Edgerton is an Australian actor and director who was born on June 23, 1974. The two Star Wars movies Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) feature him most prominently as a young Owen Lars, a character he later returned in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022).
Along with playing Gawain in King Arthur (2004), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), The Great Gatsby (2013), Black Mass (2015), Loving (2016), Bright (2017), Red Sparrow (2018), The King (2019), and the limited series The Underground Railroad (2021), Edgerton has also appeared in a number of other films and television shows.

Edgerton, the son of Michael Edgerton, a lawyer and real estate entrepreneur, and Marianne (van Dort) Edgerton, was born in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia.
His mother is a native of The Hague and a Dutch immigrant. In 1991, he received his diploma from The Hills Grammar School. He received his training at the University of Western Sydney’s Nepean Drama School before going on to perform in a number of theatre shows, including those at the Sydney Theatre Company.
