On Sunday evening, Peter Keleghan wrote a statement on behalf of Gordon’s family stating: “Gordon Pinsent’s daughters Leah, Beverly and son Barry would like to announce his peaceful passing today in sleep with his family by his side”. It continued that Gordon deeply loved this country – its people, purpose and culture until his last breath”.

Gordon Edward Pinsent was born on July 12, 1930 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland to Florence and Stephen Arthur Present.
His family immigrated from Kent and Devon in England and he suffered from rickets until age 17. At 17 years old he began acting professionally on stage – first with a role in radio drama on the CBC before transitioning into television and film projects as well.

At the age of 21, he began his acting career at Winnipeg’s Theatre 77 (now Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre) under John Hirsch’ direction.
In 1962, he married actress Charmion King and the couple remained together until 2007 when Charmion passed away. Their daughter Leah Pinsent also works in show business.
Over the course of his career he won several awards such as Canadian Screen Award, Genie Award, ACTRA Award, Banff Television Festival, Gemini Award (five times) and Canadian Film Award.
Unfortunately, Gordon Pinsent – a talented member of Canada’s film community – has passed away.
Although no arrangements have been announced yet for his funeral or memorial services, sources indicate he died due to age-related health complications.
