Ed was born in Tyler, Texas, on January 18, 1973. He was an All-East Texas three-time selection and was the Troup High School Defensive MVP Player.

In 1992, he was a member the University Interscholastic league Class 2A state champion basketball team.

Jasper’s brother Shane was president of the Troup Independent Schools District board. Jasper, who was 49 years old, died on April 14, 2022.

What happened to Ed Jasper?

Jasper, then 24, made his NFL debut on September 15, 1997 with the Eagles in a 21-20 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. After two seasons with the team, Jasper joined the Atlanta Falcons in 1999.

His most productive years were with the Falcons, and 2002 was his best year. He played in all 16 games and helped the Falcons reach the playoffs.

The team reached the playoffs, and two years later advanced to the NFC Championship Game. He joined the Oakland Raiders in 2005.

In 15 games, he recorded two sacks as well as 24 tackles. He announced his retirement at the end of 2005.

In his nine-year NFL career, Jasper had 250 tackles and 17 sacks. He also recovered four fumbles in 118 games.
