Coolpad Cool 1 Smartphone Review

Display:Decent display with comfortable viewing angles and fine colors. Lenovo K3 Note offers better contrast though. Sunlight legibility is average. Adaptive brightness is currently glitchy and makes screen either too dim or too bright (K3 Note had the same issue which was fixed in Marshmallow upgrade)

Looks wise it’s amazing. Looks like a high end smartphone.
Superb surface finish… Powerful Snapdragon 652 delivers outstanding performance. Any high end games or apps runs without any lag. UI is also pretty fast. If it comes to the BEST SMARTPHONE under Rs.11000, your mind would go for Redmi Note 4. But, Coolpad Cool 1 is THE BEST SMARTPHONE under Rs.11,000. Yes, it is!

Camera:I do only occasional photography and it’s camera suffices for that. Auto-focus is much faster and accurate than K3 Note. Colors are OK (slightly cooler than K3 Note). However, the ‘Dual’ branding highlights the dual camera as selling point, which is difficult to swallow. Dual-tone flash definitely helps maintain white balance to more natural levels. Front camera clicks fine selfies. The SLR (bokeh effect) mode produces focus-adjustable shots which look great on promo shoots (like they always do) but aren’t nearly as neat in reality.

Performance: The prime reason behind many (including me) purchasing this phone was the mighty S652 with 4 gigs of RAM. And it definitely lives on that promise. App launches, switches, swipes etc are a breeze and RAM management is also good (nothing less was expected with 4 GB). Normally 1.5 GB RAM remains free. YouTube speed test videos portray Redmi Note 4 (S625) to be leading it on these aspects; nevertheless, the performance of older (but beefier) S652 is ample for daily-usage.

Software: I never use the stock launchers, so can’t comment on eUI launcher. The amalgamation of recent apps with quick toggles is a novelty and a matter of taste. I’d personally prefer the typical Android 3D-rolodex switcher (though hardware button for toggles is nice). There aren’t many gestures and additional quirks incorporated in the UI, but on the upside bloatware is minimal. Even with fingerprint scanner, they should include ‘double-tap the screen to wake’ (K3 Note has it, though no fingerprint sensor). I haven’t delved too-much into settings, but I think features like ‘Parallel-Space’ are missing as well.

Battery Life: I found battery life to be excellent on single-SIM (with WiFi) and still very good on dual-SIM (with LTE). While the charger isn’t a fast one, a great battery life limits the need to charge often. Better still, the charging time is not very long (2 hours max, 1.5 hours from 30% to 100%)

CAMERA RATING:
  • PRIMARY CAMERA : 10/10
  • SECONDARY/SELFIE CAMERA: 8/10

Screen: This headset comes with a 5.5 inch FULL HD IPS display with 403 pixels per inch which is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT for GAMING AND DAILY USAGE and the screen DOES NOT feel PIXELATED or LESS CRISPY at all. If you are into VIRTUAL REALITY, you will have an AVERAGE EXPERIENCE as you too might be knowing that FULL HD SCREEN(of any mobile phone) will not be crystal clear and sharp whatever the price range of the smartphone be.

Pros:

  • It has good battery bake up.
  • Its good for multitasking.
  • Both sim support 4g volte.
  • Best part is the camera.

Cons:

  • The phone heats up a lot while gaming.
  • NO expandable memory card slot.

My Final Words:

Thanks for reading my review I hope you found it helpful. According to me this is one of the best smartphone available in the market under 11k rupee. If you are really planning to buy it then simply go for it now.
