Bobby Deol will always be thankful to Salman Khan, as Deol owes much of his success since the late 90s to Salman’s presence on-screen in Race 3 (2018) which marked his comeback to Hollywood cinematic world after years of absence from cinematic work. Now back on his feet again, Bobby is gearing up for Animal co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and others – an exciting venture which promises big things.
At his recent appearance at the Jagran Film Festival, Bobby discussed his career and thanked Salman Khan for offering him a role in Race 3.
Deol said in Hindi at the film festival, reports Pinkvilla, that she would continue thanking Salman all her life long. One day Salman called me and asked, ‘Mamu shirt utarega?’ My reply was: ‘Mamu mai kuchhi karunga.’ When asked again tomorrow afternoon by Salman if she would wear something shirtless she replied ‘Yes Mamu I will.’ To this he then replied ‘Come over my house tomorrow’and she gave birth to Race 3)”.
Bobby revealed that younger audiences were able to recognise him due to his time away from the screens. He also shared his views on the controversial question of “race 3 hit or flop”, saying that although the film didn’t completely alter the trajectory of his career, its release resulted in opportunities such as Housefull 4, Netflix Class of 83 and Ashram being presented.
“My acting career didn’t exactly change at that point; rather, people started recognising me. Through that recognition came Housefull 4, but even that wasn’t challenging enough – I wanted more challenge – so when Class of 83 came along it all started and Ashram.”
