June Huh, as a young child, avoided math when he could. Huh had always wanted to be a poet. It wasn’t until he was 16 that he decided to drop out of high school.
After that, he was able to absorb a great deal of information about his environment. His mother was a Russian language teacher, and her family moved to Seoul, South Korea.
As an adult, he started to study physics and mathematics at Seoul National University. In 2009, he graduated with a degree and became a research scientist.
Since then, he has held appointments at the Clay Mathematics Institute, the Stanford University, the Institute for Advanced Study, and the Princeton University.
He was also awarded a PhD in 2014 from the University of Michigan.
