She had headed up the financial support department of Russian Defense for the Eastern Military District when she tragically passed away at age 50.

Some reports state that the body of Marina Yankina, head of finance and procurement at Russia’s Western Military District, was discovered under the windows of her tower block by police.
Since news of her passing spread on the internet, several officials and close friends have paid tribute to her and offered deep condolences to her family during this difficult time.
It’s hard to accept that Marina Yankina has left us, leaving her loved ones devastated behind. However, we would like to clarify some essential details related to the incident for posterity.
Russian media and the Telegram channel in Russia reported that documents and other items belonging to Yankina had been discovered on the 16th-floor balcony of her building on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
What happened to Marina Yankina?
She became yet another in a long list of Russian Military Officials, Defense Industry Figures, War Critics, and gas and oil executives to pass away suddenly – at 58 years old! An investigation is underway with Russia’s Investigating Committee looking into foul play allegations.
Before joining the Western Military District, Yankina had worked in the Federal Tax Service.
Her passing comes only days after Major General Vladimir Makarov was fired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and found dead by suspected suicide outside Moscow.
