With this star doubling down after being accused of widespread Instagram photoshopping, one of the oddest celebrity tales of the year just got even stranger.
Aubrey O’Day, a singer, briefly shut her Instagram account over the weekend after becoming the focus of an odd photoshopping debate.
With a new image of herself… in a thong bikini, meeting Jesus at the gates of heaven, the diva is now striking back, proclaiming that her Instagram account is “curated like a museum of ART.”
The controversy began on Saturday when a video criticizing O’Day’s obviously altered Instagram postings began to go viral on social media.
The former Danity Kane girl group member has been posting images with tags from popular tourist destinations for months now, mostly from Bali but also from other places like the Greek island of Santorini.
The images of O’Day are always dressed to the nines, and they frequently come with a motivational saying.
However, as the TikTok video reveals, many of the background images are copied from other influencer content, and the posts look to have been clumsily edited.
O’Day closed her account as rumors about her posts spread, but she has since returned and is releasing what might be her wildest Photoshop creation to date.
She threw an unrepeatable remark at the girl whose TikTok video had attracted so much attention to her account while claiming that she had recently visited heaven and “run into Jesus and we hugged it out.”
“And not that I need to explain myself, but I’ve been in this industry for over 20 years and have been traveling the world since I was seven,” she wrote.
“If I want my Instagram to be curated like a museum of ART then that’s what the f**k is going to happen.
I’m an artist, a REAL creator. I do all of my creations from my music to my flicks. Everything from my hair, glam, nails, styling, backdrops, editing, shooting,” she continued.
O’Day went on to explain the reason for her highly stylized holiday photos: “The weather isn’t always perfect when I shoot, and I vacation alone,” she said.
And for any doubters thinking O’Day had been traveling the world without ever leaving her house, on her Instagram Stories she has shared several more candid videos of herself during a Bali trip.
“I don’t need to be flown places. Let alone the fact that a lot of the shots I give y’all are in places you have to spend hours scaling mountains to get to.
Respect my aesthetic, I work hard to give y’all beautiful content that feels the way the places I travel vibrate. Because I want y’all to vibrate high with me,” she wrote.
She addressed the “little tok girl,” whose video had drawn so much attention to her page, in her final post.
“I suggest you learn this lesson fast: You don’t even need to concentrate on others to be your own version of special and necessary in this world. You can make positive changes just by using your own gifts. Stop looking left and right if you wanna move forward.”
