On October 23, 1976, Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born. He is a producer and actor who is Canadian-American. He has garnered numerous awards and nominations throughout his 30-year career in cinema and television, including a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, three People’s Choice Awards, a Grammy and Golden Globe nomination, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He is one of the highest-grossing film performers of all time, thanks to his multiple performances as Deadpool in Marvel films, which have grossed over $5 billion worldwide.

He began his acting career in the Canadian teen serial opera Hillside (1991–1993), then moved on to minor roles until starring in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl from 1998 to 2001.

Reynolds went on to star in a number of comedies, including National Lampoon’s Van Wilder (2002), Waiting… (2005), and The Proposal (2006). (2009).

He has voiced characters in the animated films The Croods film series (2013–2020), Turbo (2013), and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019).

The superhero films Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018), in which he played the title character, were Reynolds’ biggest commercial successes.

Tamara Lee (née Stewart), his mother, worked in retail sales. Reynolds has two brothers who are also police officers in British Columbia, one of whom joined the RCMP after his father.

Chester Reynolds, his paternal grandpa, was a farmer who served in the Alberta Legislative Assembly from 1940 to 1944, representing Stettler.

Reynolds was raised in the Roman Catholic Church in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighborhood and has Irish and Scottish ancestors. He’s been performing since he was thirteen years old.

In 1994, he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School, where he shared a classroom with actor Joshua Jackson. Reynolds had minor appearances in a variety of television series before becoming disillusioned and enrolling at Kwantlen Polytechnic University at the age of 19.

He met fellow actor Chris William Martin a few months later, who persuaded him to try again and go to Los Angeles with him.

Reynolds’ acting career began in 1991, when he played Billy Simpson in the Canadian-produced adolescent soap opera Hillside, which was later renamed Fifteen in the United States. In the 1993 film Ordinary Magic, Reynolds portrayed a boy who moves from India to Canada after his father’s death.

Between 1993 and 1994, he played Macro in The Odyssey on a regular basis. In 1996, he co-starred with Melissa Joan Hart in the TV movie Sabrina the Teenage Witch in a supporting role as Jay “Boom” DeBoom in “Syzygy,” the twelfth episode of The X-Files’ third season.

In Cold Blood, a two-part miniseries based on Truman Capote’s non-fiction novel of the same name, starred Reynolds as Bobby Rupp, the slain adolescent Nancy Clutter’s boyfriend.

He also appears in the anthology episode “Origin of the Species” from The Outer Limits, which aired on November 14, 1998. Reynolds starred in Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place for four seasons, starting in 1998 and played medical student Michael “Berg” Bergen.

Reynolds and singer Alanis Morissette began dating in 2002 and announced their engagement in June 2004.

The couple’s agents stated in February 2007 that they had amicably agreed to discontinue their engagement.

After the separation, Morissette said her album Flavors of Entanglement was born out of her anguish, and the song “Torch” was written about Reynolds.

Reynolds began dating actress Scarlett Johansson shortly after his relationship with Morissette ended in 2007.

They married on September 27, 2008, in a private ceremony near Tofino, British Columbia, after announcing their engagement in May 2008.

They announced their split on December 14, 2010. On December 23, Reynolds filed for divorce in Los Angeles, and Johansson responded at the same time. On July 1, 2011, the divorce was finalized.

Reynolds met Blake Lively for the first time in early 2010 while filming Green Lantern, in which they both appeared.

They started dating in October 2011 and married at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, on September 9, 2012.

Reynolds publicly apologized and expressed tremendous regret for using that location in the aftermath of civil rights protests in 2020, and he and Lively renewed their vows at home in New York.

James was born in December 2014, Inez was born in September 2016, and Betty was born in 2019.

Pound Ridge, New York, is where the family calls home.

Taylor Swift, who named the characters in her song “Betty” after their daughters, is a close friend of Reynolds and Lively.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Reynolds and Lively promised to “match up” to $1 million for Ukrainian refugees escaping the fighting.

In March 2022, Lively and Reynolds gave another $500,000 to Water First to offer clean water to indigenous peoples in Canada and training to young people interested in working as environmental technicians.
