On October 23, 1976, Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born. He is a producer and actor who is Canadian-American. He has garnered numerous awards and nominations throughout his 30-year career in cinema and television, including a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, three People’s Choice Awards, a Grammy and Golden Globe nomination, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He is one of the highest-grossing film performers of all time, thanks to his multiple performances as Deadpool in Marvel films, which have grossed over $5 billion worldwide.

He began his acting career in the Canadian teen serial opera Hillside (1991–1993), then moved on to minor roles until starring in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl from 1998 to 2001.

Reynolds went on to star in a number of comedies, including National Lampoon’s Van Wilder (2002), Waiting… (2005), and The Proposal (2006). (2009).

He has voiced characters in the animated films The Croods film series (2013–2020), Turbo (2013), and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019).

Tamara Lee (née Stewart), his mother, worked in retail sales. Reynolds has two brothers who are also police officers in British Columbia, one of whom joined the RCMP after his father.

Chester Reynolds, his paternal grandpa, was a farmer who served in the Alberta Legislative Assembly from 1940 to 1944, representing Stettler.

Reynolds was raised in the Roman Catholic Church in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighborhood and has Irish and Scottish ancestors. He’s been performing since he was thirteen years old.

In 1994, he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School, where he shared a classroom with actor Joshua Jackson. Reynolds had minor appearances in a variety of television series before becoming disillusioned and enrolling at Kwantlen Polytechnic University at the age of 19.
