Kanak Rele Death cause

Kanak Rele, born June 11, 1937 in Gujarat, British India, spent her childhood years playing at Santiniketan and Kolkata with her uncle. There she watched Kathakali and Mohiniyattam performances which she credits as inspiring her artistic style today.

Rele is a qualified lawyer with an LLB from the Government Law College and diploma in international law from the University of Manchester, having begun Kathakali at seven years old under Guru “Panchali” Karunakara Panicker; later Kalamandalam Rajalakshmi inducted her into Mohiniyattam practice.

Kanak Rele’s groundbreaking idea of body kinetics in dance, explored body movements through Mohiniyattam. She has been credited as being instrumental in revitalizing and popularizing this ancient form with a scientific perspective.

Throughout her career, she earned multiple honors including Padma Shri – India’s fourth-highest civilian award – Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, M.S. Subbulakshmi Award and Padma Bhushan from the Government of India; Kanak’s impact will always be remembered by her loved ones who she touched throughout India.
