Jayalalitha is first electing as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in the year 1989. She was the first lady to become the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu.

The two-division of the party was reunited in the year February 1989 under the leadership of Jayalalitha. She, without opposition, elects the General Secretary of the united political party called AIADMK.

On the year 14 May 2001, Jayalalitha became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the second time.

In the year February 2002, she was also elected from the constituency of Andipatti.
Jayalalitha remained the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2 March 2002 to 12 May 2006.

The AIADMK union won 69 seats in the year 2006 Legislative Assembly elections. Jayalalitha served as the Leader of Opposition.

Again in the year 2011, Legislative Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK and its allies moved back after winning 203 seats out of 234. Jaya became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fourth time.

Jayalalitha had to withdraw from her post as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in September 2014. As a trial court in Karnataka held her guilty in an 18-year-old disproportionate asset. It’s amounting to Rs. 66.65 crores and in a corruption case.

On the year 11 May 2015, the Karnataka High Court accessible Jayalalitha in the Disproportionate Assets case.
Once again, Jayalalitha took an oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for a record-equalling fifth time on 23 May 2015.

Jayalalitha’s Awards and Honors

The government of Tamil Nadu honored Jaya with the Kalaimamani Award with a Literature degree. She was a grant to her by the University of Madras in the year 1991. The honor of Science degree was granted to her by Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in the year 1992.

The degree of Doctor of Letters was given to her by Madurai Kamaraj University in the year 1993.

The Doctor of Science degree was also given to her by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in the year 2003.

The Doctor of Letters with the honor was given to her by Bharathidasan University in the year 2003.

The House of Lords also invited her to London. In 2004, she received the Woman Politician of the Decade Award from the Asian Guild Awards.

The Golden Star of Honour and Dignity Award also gives to Jayalalitha in 2004. International Human Rights Defence Committee provides this honor.

In the year 2011, a resolution was the move by the New Jersey General Assembly. I appreciated it her outstanding excellence and dedication as a leader. Jaya is to be in the service to the people of Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalitha’s Death

Jayalalithaa died in her office on the year December 5th, 2016. At the age of 68 years, after suffering from a significant cardiac arrest.
