It is with deep regret to inform our readers of the tragic passing of beloved Ghana soccer player Christian Atsu at 31 years old.
His lifeless body was discovered beneath rubble on Saturday in Turkey after suffering an earthquake; according to his agent, almost two weeks had passed since this devastating quake devastated Syria and Turkey.

All Ghanaians have mourned his untimely passing with deep grief. On February 6, the devastating Turkey earthquake claimed thousands of lives, shattering buildings and leaving people trapped.
While search and rescue operations continue for those still missing, updates indicate Christian Atsu had been missing for days after the event but was confirmed dead on Saturday morning.
Following confirmation on social media platforms, both fans and authorities paid their respects to the footballer.
His agent Nana Sechere tweeted,” It is with deep regret that I must inform all of your well-wishers that Christian Atsu’s body was recovered today. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and loved ones”.
On Saturday morning, Turkey’s state news channel TRT Haber reported the discovery of a lifeless body under the rubble of a destroyed building in Antakya: it was believed to be Hatayspor player Ali Sakik.

The Everton Football Club expressed their grief today upon learning of Christian Atsu’s passing away due to the earthquake in Turkey earlier this month.
